| A 69-year-old man identified as Peter Adeboye has been found dead in his own farm at Igoba, Akure North Local Government area of Ondo state, after he was allegedly strangled by unknown assailants. Police in Ondo State said on Wednesday that it has commenced investigations into the incident to unravel those behind it. Our correspondent gathered that Adeboye had gone to his farm last Saturday at dawn but failed to return home in the evening, raising fear and anxiety among his family members. A search party was said to have been dispatched to his farm where he was found lifeless and blood flow was observed in his nostrils and mouth. It was also gathered that the search party observed that nothing was stolen from him, raising suspicion that he was killed. Police Public Relations Office, Mr Wole Ogodo, who confirmed the incident, said the late farmer was strangulated to death by unknown people. He said, “Mrs Esther Adeboye came to the station to report that her husband was missing, that he went to the farm and did not return, it was at this point that they mobilized a search party and moved to the farm. “On getting there, the wife of the deceased saw the corpse of her husband first and when they moved closer to the corpse they discovered that his trouser was removed to strangulate his neck. Blood was gushing out from his nose and mouth. “His handset was placed in his hand.” The police Spokesman said the corpse had been deposited in the mortuary of the State Specialists Hospital, Akure, while the investigation has commenced to apprehend those who were behind the incident. | |
