OSOGBO—Teachers in Osun State, yesterday, demanded quick action on the November and December, 2014 salaries owed some of them, just as the union re-assured the state government of cooperation to ensure success of its educational policies.
In a statement issued in Osogbo by the Chairman and Principal state secretary of NUT, Comrade Amudah Alade and Comrade Abdulahi M, the union said secondary schools teachers in the state are yet to be paid their November and December 2014 salaries, adding that all other categories of teachers are yet to get their January salary.
The union claimed its members are being exposed to untold hardship due to unpaid arrears of salaries, stressing that many of its members can no longer feed their families, while others have to trek long distances to and from schools daily.
Though it expressed deep understanding of the financial situation of the state presently, the teachers appealed to government to give payment of salaries priority attention.
