Four persons were shot dead, yesterday night, at a drinking spot close to
Amadi-Ama roundabout, Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, while two others
were also killed on Gada street in Ogbunabali community, Port Harcourt on
Thursday night in related circumstance.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad
Muhammad, said they were aware of only the four that died at the drinking
spot on yesterday, adding that the incident on Gada Street had not been
reported to the police.
According to eye witnesses, those shot dead were there drinking when some
gunmen alighted from their vehicle and opening fire at them.
In the Gada area incident, the two killed were reportedly in a makeshift
restaurant eating at about 10pm that Thursday night when unknown gunmen
stormed the place killing them on the spot.
Police said the shooting at the drinking spot had the trapping of cult related
incident.
Meanwhile, Professor Otonti Nduka has condemned political killings in Port
Harcourt, saying politicians should help achieve violent free elections in the
state.
The professor emeritus, who is the Chairman, Otonti Nduka Foundation for
Values Education, a non- governmental organisation, said the violence
associated with politics in the state was disturbing.
