Senator-elect, Kwara South
Senatorial District, Dr. Rafiu
Ibrahim, has said the forthcoming
8th Senate will support the
President-elect, Muhammadu
Buhari, in his avowed anti-graft
war.
He stated that all efforts should be
on deck to rid the nation of
corruption, noting that corruption
had retarded national
development.
He spoke on Tuesday at the burnt
Owode Market in Offa, Offa Local
Government Area in Kwara State,
when he paid a sympathy visit to
the affected victims.
Ibrahim, who is currently a member
representing Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun
Federal Constituency, noted that
the massive and monumental fire
disaster had negatively affected
economic and business activities in
Offa.
He promised to collaborate with
the state and the local
governments as well as other
relevant bodies to give succour to
the victims.
The senator-elect said the 8th
Senate needed a vibrant, efficient,
competent and courageous
president to galvanise the 109
senators to more commitments in
national development.
Meanwhile, prominent academics
from about five universities and
politicians across the country have
endorsed Saraki, who described
him as being eminently qualified to
become the President of the 8th
Senate.
The academic spoke during a
summit at the Kwara State
University.
The summit was entitled, ‘Why
Senator Bukola Saraki is the most
appropriate and desirable
candidate for Senate president.’
The speakers included the Vice-
Chancellor, KWASU, Prof.
AbdulRasheed Na’Allah, who was
represented by the Provost of the
College of Humanities, KWASU, Prof.
Saka Mahmud; a lecturer at the
Department of Political Science,
University of Ilorin, Dr. Fatai Aremu;
a lecturer at Ekiti State University,
Dr. Azeez Olaniyon; a lecturer at the
Redeemers University, Ede, Osun
State, Dr. Jeremiah Omotola; and a
lecturer at Adekunle Ajasin
University, Dr. Isaac Aladegbola
