lagos—There was pandemonium in Mushin area of Lagos State, as factions
of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, were engaged in
violent clash destroying several vehicles, four persons were injured.
This is coming as residents of Idi-Oro, axis of Mushin have called on the
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, to ensure that the four
suspects arrested with an AK 47 rifle belonging to a deceased policeman and
a pump action gun were prosecuted. The suspects, Identified as Rasheed
Adeshina, aka, Action, Salami Rauf, Waheed Oseni and Azeez gbadamosi,
were arrested recently when operatives, at the D9 Section of the State
Criminal Investigations Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba, raided a bakery
where the suspects kept the rifles.
Vanguard had reported that the suspects were members of a faction of the
NURTW, involved in a protracted bloody war of supremacy between factions
of the NURTW in Mushin, which led to the death of several persons, while
properties, worth millions have been destroyed.
The residents, however, urged the police boss to spread his drag net and
apprehend those who procured guns for the suspects.
Taiwo Alade, who spoke with Vanguard said; “The police needs to arrest the
people backing these boys if they want lasting peace in Mushin. These boys
have given the police the names of the people and the police know them
very well. In fact, I saw No Case, who they said bought the Ak47 rifle and
the pump action gun for them, walking freely in Mushin and I wonder why he
has not been arrested to tell the police how a police rifle was found in
possession of his boys.
”This is a serious issue.” Meanwhile, Vanguard gathered that yesterday’s
clash in Mushin, began when hoodlums loyal to one Illesami and Wasiu
Oloriesho, controlling the Idi-Oro axis of the Agege Motor Road, allegedly
attacked their rivals at Mushin Bus Stop, led by one Ike and Akeem Aganran,
also known as No Case.
They destroyed several vehicles while some passers-by sustained some
injuries.
Eyewitnesses told Vanguard that the hoodlums stormed a popular fillings
station operating at Mushin Bus Stop and vandalized all the vehicles
including commercial buses operating within the area. They were also said
to have attacked and robbed some innocent passers-by during the clash.
