David De Gea to stay at Manchester United with aim of becoming captain – report 1.-David-De-Gea-MUFC
David De Gea is reportedly set to remain at Manchester United this summer, following the hiring of goalkeeping coach Emilio Alvarez Blanco.

The Spain international was the subject of a failed transfer saga last summer, with Real Madrid narrowly missing out on his signing.

Former United boss Louis van Gaal froze De Gea out of the squad for the first three Premier League fixtures of the season, with Sergio Romero instead starting for the Red Devils amid the uncertainty over his teammate.

However, the No.1 was reinstated following the culmination of the transfer window, and he penned a fresh £200,000-per-week contract (via the Guardian) with United.

According to the Daily Mail, De Gea will not be reigniting a move to his home city of Madrid this summer.

The source suggests that he will stay at United, primarily due to the appointment of Alvarez.

Jose Mourinho brought in the 44-year-old as part of his backroom staff this week, with De Gea pleased to work alongside a friend.

Furthermore, the report claims that De Gea is ready to stay with the Red Devils for the long-term, as his aim is to become the club’s captain.

Last season, the 25-year-old impressed by keeping 15 clean sheets in the Premier League – only one fewer than division leader Petr Cech.

His performances at Euro 2016 were more concerning though, as De Gea made more defensive errors (three) than any other player at the tournament.
