Summary: You may want to extract and import DVD clips to Final Cut Pro to edit the DVD movies. However, Final Cut Pro can’t supports DVD importing. Fortunately, there is an easy way to fix this issue. Below is how.

It is always best to start the editing process with the highest quality, least compressed video format you can obtain. However, sometimes the only source you have for footage is from a DVD. But since DVD footage is highly compressed and specially formatted as VOB files in order to meet the DVD-Video specification, the files on the DVD must be converted if you plan to edit them in Final Cut Pro.

There are many apps available for converting DVD footage, but it is extremely important that you use the right tool for doing this if you plan to edit the footage. Using the wrong app can mean wasted time, unneeded quality loss due to multiple conversions, needless rendering in FCP and can be just plain frustrating.

Brorsoft DVD Ripper Mac is the tool I’ve applied and highly recommended. It is easy to use for editing and conversion and makes great quality copies of DVDs. With it, you can effortlessly rip DVD to Apple ProRes MOV format for further editing within your Final Cut Pro 6/7 and FCP X. Besides, you are allowed to edit the DVD movies by trimming, cropping, adjusting video effects, etc. to get the very wanted part and effects as you like. Moreover, it can also help you convert DVD to all other popular video formats like AVI, MOV, MKV, WMV, FLV, MPG, etc. for playing and sharing on different portable media devices. Just get it and follow the steps to complete your task. You can also get the alternative DVD Ripper for your Windows PC.
