MAN UNITED FAN COMMITS SUICIDE IN KENYA AFTER NEWCASTLE DEFEAT

Sad news coming out of Nairobi in Kenya is that a young Manchester United fan committed suicide after learning that his favourite team had lost to Newcastle United.

United slumped to their second home Premier League defeat in the space of four days on Saturday as Yohan Cabaye's goal gave Newcastle a first league victory at Old Trafford since 1972.

And one fan named John Jimmy Macharia was so devastated by the defeat that he jumped from the 7th floor of the building where he was living and died instantly.

The body was later removed and taken to the mortuary by police who arrived there.

"All witness accounts suggest he committed suicide because the team lost but officers are still talking to those who were with him as part of the investigations into the incident," Nairobi County police chief Benson Kibue told the media.

"It is not the first time we are losing a young man because of the football in England, which is far away from us. They need to know that is just a game."

This is just the most recent instance of Premier League fans in Eastern Africa taking things too far.

Last month, a man in Uganda lost his house after making a hugely risky bet on his beloved Arsenal beating United and lost.
