BREAKING: ASUP Strike suspended; Polytechnics to resume Tuesday

The lecturers had been on strike since October last year.
The Academic Staff union of Polytechnics, ASUP, has suspended its 10-month-old strike.
The strike, which started in October 2013, was suspended on Saturday morning at the National Executive Council, NEC, meeting of the union held in Abuja.
The National Publicity Secretary of ASUP, Clement Chirman, confirmed the suspension of the strike to PREMIUM TIMES.
He said all striking lecturers have been directed to resume work on Tuesday.
The ASUP NEC meeting was held two days after the leadership of the union held a ‘fruitful’ meeting with the new Education Minister, Ibrahim Shekarau, who was sworn in by President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday.
The ASUP NEC consists of all chapter (polytechnic) chairmen of the union and the national executive of the body.

AIT reported that the strike was 13 months and not 10 months. It's only in this country that students will be out of campus for over a year. They shall anwereth to God on the last day. Fools.

@Smile I think the Government should re visit the polytechnic curriculum and make it more appreciable to their University counter part. But please don't you think the purpose of creating polytechnic will be defeated?

Polytechnic is an advance technical teaching and .ℓ̊ embrace it...The government should work on appointees to stop discrimination not d teaching ways. We r following western education and everyone of them has their categories/fxns..polytechnic is more of technical and some companies like shells n co embrace it while odas prefer university educations; so, they are two different ways.
