Robbery suspects engage policemen in gun battle

A three-man robbery gang engaged a team of policemen from Ogijo Division, Ogun State, in a gun battle that lasted 10 minutes, Tuesday, in its bid to escape being arrested. However, a suspected member of the gang was arrested, while others escaped. Vanguard gathered that the suspects stormed Tulamania Hotel in Odo-Nla area of the state, pretending to be customers. The gun-wielding suspects, thereafter, attacked unsuspecting lodgers, dispossessing them of their valuables. While the operation was ongoing, one of the hotel’s staff alerted policemen at Ogijo Division. A team from the division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, Muhammed Tijani, stormed the scene and was confronted by the suspects. Spokesman for the state Command, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed that “one locally-made gun and three live cartridges were recovered from the suspect.
