4 – Arsenal were the only team to have four players score at least 10 goals. These
were Theo Walcott (14), Santi Cazorla (12), Olivier Giroud (11) and Lukas Podolski
(11).
0 – Manchester United were the only team not to concede a penalty during the
2012-13 season.
0 – Newcastle’s 3-0 home loss to Sunderland on 14 April was the first time the
Magpies had failed to score in the Tyne-Wear derby during the Premier League era.
Newcastle had scored in all 21 previous matches versus their local rivals.
1 – Tottenham were the only side to remain undefeated in their two matches versus
Manchester United.
1 – Liverpool won just 1 of the 10 games in which Luis Suárez received a yellow
card in this season, losing 5. The solo victory was 1-0 over Southampton on 1
December.
1 – Shinji Kagawa became the first Asian to score a hat-trick in the Premier
League. The Japanese international did so during a 4-0 win over Norwich on 2 March.
1 – David Moyes suffered his first Premier League defeat against Sunderland. The
Everton manager had been unbeaten in all 16 previous meetings prior to the 1-0 loss
at the Stadium of Light on 20 April.
2 – Manchester City and Queens Park Rangers were the only two sides to prevent
Chelsea scoring in both league games against the Blues this season. Both sides took
4 points from the Europa League winners.
2 – Everton finished above Liverpool for only the second time in the 21-year
history of the Premier League.
2 – Steven Pienaar and Steve Sidwell were the only players to be sent off on more
than one occasion. The Everton midfielder was sent off for collecting two yellow
cards on both occasions, whilst Fulham’s Sidwell was dismissed for straight red
card offences twice.
3 – Manchester United dropped just 3 points all season against sides who finished
in the bottom half. This was a 1-0 defeat at Norwich City, doing the double over
the other 9 sides in the bottom 11.
3 – Chelsea improved 3 positions on last season – up from 6th to 3rd. This was the
biggest climb amongst the 17 teams who also participated in the 2011-12 season.
3 – Stoke City scored 3 goals from throw-ins.
3 – Jos Hooiveld scored three own goals – more than any other player and a
joint-Premier League record.
3 – Mark Schwarzer saved the most penalties. The Fulham goalkeeper denied Arsenal’s
Mikel Arteta, Stoke City’s Jonathan Walters and Queens Park Rangers’ Loic Remy
during the campaign.
3 – Jonathan Walters became only the third player in Premier League history to
score two own goals in a single game. The Irish forward did so during a 4-0 home
loss to Chelsea on 12 January. He also missed a penalty in that game. Liverpool’s
Jamie Carragher and Sunderland’s Michael Proctor were the two who came before him.
4 – Robin van Persie became the fourth player to finish as the Premier League’s top
scorer in back-to-back seasons. Alan Shearer, Michael Owen (twice joint top scorer)
and Thierry Henry are the only players to have previously achieved this season
feat. The Manchester United striker joins Alan Shearer as the only other player to
have topped the score chart for two different clubs.
4 – Santi Cazorla was the only player to record 4 assists in a single game. The
Spaniard set up all 4 of Arsenal’s goals in their 4-1 thrashing of Wigan Athletic
in their penultimate game of the season.
4 – Gareth Bale was booked for diving on 4 occasions – the most by any player in
the Premier League.
5 – Arsenal were recipients of the most red cards (5). However, the Gunners
received the fewest yellow cards (42).
5 – Arsenal and Fulham used the fewest English players with 5 a piece. Theo
Walcott, Kieran Gibbs, Jack Wilshere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Carl Jenkinson
all made at least 14 league appearances for the Gunners. As for Fulham, Steve
Sidwell and Kieran Richardson were the only two players to have played at least 9
games. Matthew Briggs played 8, whilst David Stockdale made just 3 appearances and
Alex Smith came on in stoppage time versus West Bromwich Albion in September; his
only game for Fulham this season.
5 – Luis Suárez won the most penalties.
6 – Manchester United benefited from the most own goals. David Luiz, Ron Vlaar,
Gareth McAuley, Titus Bramble, Vincent Kompany and Jonas Olsson all put the ball in
their own net playing against the Red Devils this season.
6 – Chelsea players were booked a combined 6 times for diving this season – more
than any other club.
6 – Aston Villa scored more own goals than any other team.
6 – Christian Benteke, Jermain Defoe and Marouane Fellaini were penalised on the
most occasions for handball – 6 each.
7 – Chelsea became the first side to have 7 different players record their name on
the scoresheet. They did so during an 8-0 thrashing of Aston Villa on 23 December.
7 – Arsenal scored the most goals from counter attacks. Norwich City were the only
side not to score on a break away.
7 – Wigan Athletic tied a Premier League record with Coventry City by finishing in
the bottom half for seven consecutive seasons. Both sides were relegated in their
seventh season in the bottom half. Wigan’s only top half finish came in their first
season in the Premier League, finishing 10th under Paul Jewell in 2005-06.
8 – Aston Villa gave away the most penalties.
8 – Reading picked up the fewest number of points away from home this season. The
poor-travelling Royals’ only away victories came at Newcastle and Fulham.
8 – Only 8 of the 20 managers in charge for the final game of the 2012-13 Premier
League season had been in their current job for more than a year. Of those, Sir
Alex Ferguson took charge of his final game, David Moyes is leaving his post and
Rafa Benitez was only interim manager.
8 – Adam Le Fondre scored 8 goals from the subs bench – a new Premier League
record.
10 – Norwich City set a club record of 10 Premier League games unbeaten between
October and December. This run included 1-0 victories against both Arsenal and
Manchester United.
10 – Frank Lampard became the first and only player to score double figures in 10
consecutive Premier League seasons.
10 – Luis Suárez recevied the longest suspension of the season after the Uruguayn
was handed a 10-game ban for biting Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic. Only 6 players in
the history of the Premier League have served longer bans.
10 – Craig Gardner, Bradley Johnson, Matthew Lowton and Luis Suárez received the
most yellow cards – 10 each.
11 – Chelsea were awarded the most penalties. The Blues converted 9 of these, also
the most this season.
11 – Newcastle dropped 11 places on last season – the biggest drop amongst the 17
team who were also in the top flight in 2011-12.
11 – Sam Allardyce’s West Ham managed to score only 11 goals in 19 away games –
fewer than any other team.
11 – Louis Saha made more substitute appearances than any other player who did not
start a single game.
12 – Chelsea’s Juan Mata recorded the most assists.
13 – Manchester United secured their record 13th Premier League title. Sir Alex
Ferguson’s side have only failed to win the trophy in 8 seasons since its
rebranding in 1992. Ryan Giggs is the only player to have been in the squad for all
of those successes.
13 – Queens Park Rangers scored just 13 goals at Loftus Road this season.
13 – Swansea City’s Sung-Yueng Ki forced the most saves out of goalkeepers (13)
amongst players who failed to score a single goal.
14 – Manchester United defenders combined for 14 goals. Patrice Evra led the way
with 4, Jonny Evans and Rafael 3, Alexander Büttner 2, and Rio Ferdinand and
Nemanja Vidic scored a goal each.
14 – Queens Park Rangers finished 14 points from safety.
14 – Brazil was the most represented South American country. The 14 Brazilians to
play in the 2012-13 Premier League season were Anderson, Julio César, Philippe
Coutinho, Guly do Prado, Fabio, Lucas Leiva, David Luiz, Maicon, Oscar, Lucas
Piazón, Rafael, Ramires, Sandro and André Santos.
15 – Frank Lampard and Rickie Lambert were the highest-scoring Englishmen.
16 – Manchester United won 16 games by a single goal.
16 – West Bromwich Albion’s Isaiah Brown was the youngest player to make an
appearance in the Premier League this season. Aged just 16 years and 117 days when
he came on for the final 5 minutes against Wigan, Brown became only the 12th
16-year old to appear in the Premier League.
16 – Swansea City and Queens Park Rangers failed to score in 16 of their 38 games.
16 – Queens Park Rangers set a Premier League record in becoming the first side to
fail to win any of their opening 16 fixtures. In match number 17 they beat Fulham
2-1 at Loftus Road.
16 – Robin van Persie scored against 16 of the 19 opponents he faced this season.
Only Norwich City, Queens Park Rangers and Swansea City prevented the Premier
League’s top scorer from scoring against them.
17 – At 17 years and 312 days, Raheem Sterling was the youngest goalscorer in the
Premier League this season when he scored Liverpool’s winner against Reading on 20
October 2012.
18 – Joe Hart won the Golden Glove award for keeping a league-high 18 clean sheets.
19 – Christian Benteke broke an Aston Villa club record by scoring 19 goals in a
single season for the Villans. The Belgian striker has been linked with moves away
from the club after an impressive debut season.
20 – Chelsea picked up the most points against teams in the top 6.
20 – Theo Walcott’s goal on 20 seconds in Arsenal’s 1-0 victory at Queens Park
Rangers on 4 May was the quickest goal scored this season and the quickest Arsenal
goal in Premier League history.
20 – 20 different players registered their name on the scoresheet for Manchester
United this season – a Premier League record.
21 – Ryan Giggs has scored in all 21 seasons of the Premier League – the only
player to do so.
22 – Manchester United scored the most goals from set pieces.
22 – Jobi McAnuff picked up the quickest yellow card of the season, taking just 22
seconds against Sunderland.
23 – Lukas Podolski was subbed off more times than any other player. The German
forward in his debut Premier League season with Arsenal only played 90 minutes on
two occasions in the Premier League in 25 of his starts.

French striker scored with 4 of those 32 headed efforts.
38 – Leighton Baines, Asmir Begovic, Joe Hart, Jussi Jääskeläinen, Jobi McAnuff,
James McCarthy, Simon Mignolet and Jonathan Walters started every game.
38 – Thomas Sørensen and Keiren Westwood were the only two players named on the
substitutes bench for every single game. Neither player made a single appearance
all season.
39 – Arouna Koné conceded the most fouls without picking up a single card.
41 – At 41 years 312 days in his last appearance for Tottenham this season, Brad
Friedel was the oldest player to make an appearance in the Premier League. At 39
years 168 days, Ryan Giggs was the oldest outfield player.

100% – Paulo Ferreira played the most amount of games (5) amongst players to have

127 – Liverpool’s José Enrique won back possession in his own third on more
occasions than any other player.
150 – Michael Owen became the seventh player to reach 150 Premier League goals. The
striker did so via a consolation goal in Stoke City’s 3-1 defeat to Swansea City on
January 19. That was the final goal of Owen’s career after retiring at the end of
the season. Earlier in the season Wayne Rooney became the sixth player to reach
this landmark and the youngest player to do so, aged 27.
163 – Frank Lampard is the highest-scoring player in Premier League history amongst
current players. The 15 goals scored by the Chelsea midfielder this season took him
up to 163 in his career and equal fourth with Robbie Fowler on the all-time list.
166 – West Ham’s Jussi Jääskeläinen made the most saves.
175 – Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin won back possession more times any other
player in the middle of the park.
181 – 181 English players made at least one appearance in the Premier League this
season.
187 – Luis Suárez had the most shots on goal. Of his 187 attempts, the Uruguayan
found the target with 72 and the back of the net with 23 of his shots.
202 – Jamie Carragher finished his career with more clean sheets as a starter than
any goalkeeper or defender in Premier League history. Only midfielders Ryan Giggs
(232) and Frank Lampard (227) have been involved in games where their side have
kept a clean sheet than Carragher.
210 – Tim Howard’s streak of 210 consecutive Premier League matches came to an end
when the American goalkeeper missed Everton’s 3-1 victory over Reading on 2 March.
305 – Manchester United became the first team to record 300 victories in the
Premier League.
353 – Everton’s Leighton Baines attempted the most crosses.
365 – Roberto Mancini was dismissed from his duties a year to the day since winning
the 2011-12 Premier League title for Manchester City.
504 – Mark Schwarzer became the ninth player in the history of the Premier League
to make at least 500 appearances. The Australian goalkeeper went on to make a
further 4 appearances after the 500 mark to take him above Sol Campbell into 8th
place on the all-time list. Phil Neville and Jamie Carragher also broke the
500-mark this season, with the Liverpool player becoming only the second to do so
for a single club (after Ryan Giggs).
537 – There were a total of 537 different players making at least one appearance.
810 – Sir Alex Ferguson retires from football management having overseen all 810 of
Manchester United’s matches in the Premier League. Arsene Wenger has been in charge
for the second highest number of games, 638 in all.
969 – Shaun Wright-Phillips had gone 969 days (53) matches without scoring a
Premier League goal until the Queens Park Rangers midfielder scored the winner at
Chelsea on 2 January.
1,031 – West Ham attempted the most crosses.
1,020 – Aston Villa became the eighth team to score 1.000 goals in the history of
the Premier League and the last of the seven ever-presents to do so. Gabby
Agbonlahor had the honour of scoring the landmark goal for the Villans during a 2-1
victory at Reading on 9 March. Everton became the seventh side to do so earlier in
the season with their first of two goals in stoppage time during a dramatic 2-1
victory at home to Tottenham.
1,035 – Santi Cazorla completed the most passes in the final third – 262 more than
David Silva who was second on the list.
1,063 – There were 1,063 goals in the Premier League this season, three fewer than
last season. Swansea City’s Michu scored the first goal of the 2012-13 season,
whilst Urby Emanuelson scored the last.
2,283 – Newcastle attempted the most long balls.
2,517 – Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta completed the most passes. The Spaniard had a 92%
completion rate, higher than Manchester United’s Michael Carrick who was the only
player to attempt more passes than the Arsenal midfielder.
3,258 – Santi Cazorla made more touches of the football than any other player.
3,420 – Leighton Baines was the only outfield player to play every single minute of
the 2012-13 Premier League season. Goalkeepers Asmir Begovic, Joe Hart, Jussi
Jääskeläinen and Simon Mignolet played every single minute of the season too.
15,436 – Wigan Athletic 3-2 on 24 November saw the lowest attendance of the season.
75,605 – Manchester United 1-0 Reading on 16 March saw the highest attendance of
the season.
13,295,535 – Over 13 million spectators attended Premier League games, up on the
