Few days after
the Nigerian Civil
Aviation Authority
(NCAA) sacked 187
staff due to non-
compliance with
the laid down
procedures for
employment, the
Nigerian Aviation
Handling
Company,
(NAHCo)Aviance
Plc, has sacked
about 15 of its
management
staff.
The current sack is
coming more than
a month after the
Managing Director
of the company,
Mr. Kayode
Oluwasegun-Ojo
was removed by
the Board of
Directors of the
company and
replaced by Mr.
Norbert
Bielderman as the
Ag. Managing
Director.
The former
Managing
Director’s
removal,
according to the
company, was in
line with the
company’s
succession plan
and good
corporate
principles.
Contacted, the
spokesman for the
company, Mr Tayo
Ajakaye, said that
it was part of the
recommendation
agreed on at a
retreat; to
restructure the
company.
He added that
sometimes in
August, there was
a retreat where it
was agreed that
the management
of the company is
top heavy and
that there was the
need to make it
less heavy if the
company must
compete
favorably in the
industry.
Ajakaye further
stated that to put
things right, the
company has to
restructure and
that aviation
unions are aware
of the
development.
However, Daily
Independent
gathered that the
current sack of the
15 top
management staff
is part of the
ongoing
restructuring
exercise in the
ground handling
company and that
the company will
retrench more in
the weeks ahead.
According to a
source close to
NAHCo, the
affected
departments
include Human
Resources,
Corporate
Communications,
Risks
Management
departments and
the office of the
Managing
Director.
He also stated that
