Following security reports, the
Nigerian Army has imposed total
restriction on vehicular movement
on Maiduguri, the capital of Borno
State for five days.
A statement signed by the Army
Public Relations Officer of the head
quarters of 7 Division of the Nigerian
Army, Maiduguri, Col. Sani Usman,
said it had gathered that the
dreaded terrorist sect plan to launch
an attack on parts of Borno State,
with Maiduguri city a major target,
while Christians are celebrating
Christmas.
The army has decided, in
consultation with the Borno State
Government and other security agen
cies, to ban all forms of vehicular
movement in the state from 6.00
p.m. on Wednesday, December 24,
2014 to 7.00a.m. Sunday December
28, 2014.
The vehicular restriction will, also,
hinder inter-state commuting while
it lasts.
However, the army excluded
government officials on essential
services, as well as journalists that
are duly authorised by their
establishments from the ban.
