The Ogun State Ministry of Works
and Infrastructure has proposed to
spend over N22bn as capital
expenditure and about N339m as
recurrent expenditure for the year
2015.
This was contained in a statement
issued by the ministry on
Wednesday in Abeokuta.
The state Commissioner for Works
and Infrastructure, Mr. Olamilekan
Adegbite, said this while
presenting the ministry’s budget
before members of the Finance and
Appropriate Committee of the state
House of Assembly.
He explained that out of the
proposed capital expenditure, an
asphalt plant would be established
and located around the Sagamu
interchange. This, he said, would
ensure easy access of the plant’s
product to the three senatorial
districts of the state.
The asphalt plant, he added, would
provide the materials needed for
road construction within the state,
rather than buying from marketers,
as it is being done now.
Adegbite also said the ministry
proposed to construct additional
350km of durable asphalt roads in
major towns across the state while
the 19 ongoing roads would be
completed.
Aside from road construction, he
said the ministry would provide the
Vehicle Inspection Offices with
vehicles and equipment to improve
on the revenue-generating
capacity of the officers while the
State Fire Service Unit would also
be empowered to be more
efficient.
The Chairman of Finance and
Appropriation Committee, Mr.
Akanbi Bankole, called for equal
spread of projects across the 26
constituencies in the state for even
development
