Some irate youths went berserk in
Jos on Saturday setting ablaze two
campaign buses emblazoned with
the picture of President Goodluck
Jonathan and his Vice, Namadi
Sambo.
The incident, which took place at
Zololo junction by Mangu Street,
along the Bauchi road in Jos North
Local Government Area of Plateau
State, came barely 48 hours to the
inauguration of the Peoples
Democratic Party governorship
campaign in Mangu Local
Government Area.
The youths were said to have
attacked the buses, said to be
coming from Bauchi Road to
Terminus. They also attacked
another vehicle with PDP logo.
It was not clear why the buses were
attacked, but when our
correspondent contacted the Police
Public Relations Officer, DSP
Emmanuel Abuh, he asked for some
time to contact the divisional
police officer of C Division.
Abuh said he had yet to get the
details of the incident, but our
correspondent gathered that both
drivers escaped unhurt.
It was also gathered that after the
youths set the buses ablaze, they
went on the rampage, smashing
other cars on sight.
The incident created tension in the
city, especially around Terminus
and Ahmadu Bello Way, which was
recently attacked by two bombers.
