Abakaliki - The Catholic Women Organisation (CWO), Abakaliki
Diocese, on Monday, held a rosary procession which ended
with the burning of written petitions unto God.
Chinwendu Muoneke, President of the CWO, explained that
they came out to pray for peaceful conduct of the
gubernatorial elections in Ebonyi and the entire country.
She thanked God for the peaceful conduct of the
Presidential/National Assembly elections and prayed that
the gubernatorial election, especially in Ebonyi, would be
peaceful.
"The high rate of crime being experienced during these
electoral processes and the challenges generally faced by
people within the same period are worrisome."
"Individuals who take political activities as do or die affair
should realise the negative sides, as youths are being used
as thugs to kill and maim people."
"Youths have been used to destroy valuable properties of
innocent people in the area," she said.
According to Muoneke, the activities of politicians have
created fear and panic among people in the state, as they
are being intimidated on daily basis.
