APC kicks as Jonathan meets Obanikoro, Gani Adams

The All Progressives Congress has
raised the alarm over President
Goodluck Jonathan’s unannounced
visit to Lagos State a day to the
governorship election.
The National Publicity Secretary of
the APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed,
wondered why Jonathan came in to
Lagos late on Thursday evening.
He said Jonathan had a secret
meeting with the Peoples
Democratic Party governorship
candidate, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, the
Minister of Foreign Affairs (2),
Musiliu Obanikoro, and the National
Coordinator of the Oodua Peoples
Congress, Gani Adams.
Mohammed said the meeting was
obviously to strategise on how to
manipulate the polls.
He said Jonathan was using the
general perception that he was a
‘good sportsman,’ to deceive
Nigerians.
He said Jonathan was on a revenge
mission to rig in Lagos because he
failed in the state on March 28.
The APC Publicity Secretary said
Jonathan had brought in fake result
sheets which would be used to
record doctored figures on
Saturday.
He said the PDP was desperate to
win Lagos because having lost the
centre, Lagos was the only means
through which the party could be
funded.
He said, “Before the meeting,
eagle-eyed Nigerians who are
appalled by the PDP’s rigging plans
have widely circulated on the social
media the details of the planned
electoral malfeasance, including
the airlifting from Abuja to Lagos of
a Black Kia Mohave SUV, with plate
number DHQ 340, which was packed
with election materials (especially
result sheets).
‘’The meeting in Lagos was aimed
at devising a strategy to distribute
the fake result sheets that were
packed into the SUV, which will be
free to move around (because of its
plate number) despite the
restriction on vehicular movement
during the elections. ‘’The same
President, who conceded defeat in
the presidential election and then
followed up with a speech in which
he said he would like his ‘legacy’ of
free and fair elections to endure, is
the one who is presiding over a
desperate move to steal the
people’s votes on Saturday.
‘’How can President Jonathan’s
‘legacy’ endure when one of his
last acts in office is a seeming
vengeance mission to lead his
party to capture Lagos, because the
PDP sees the state as a cash cow
that they can milk to death, with
the party’s gravy train at the
federal level having derailed?’’ the
party queried.
But the Lagos State Publicity
Secretary of the PDP, Mr. Taofik
Gani, described the allegations as
baseless.
Gani said Jonathan, who conceded
defeat to the APC two weeks ago,
would not tarnish his image to
manipulate an election which he
would not participate in.

Fathers,Pastors In Enugu
The police in Enugu State have arrested
seven suspects accused of raping a
Reverend Sister,in addition to the kidnap of
over 10 Rev.Fathers,pas tors,politician s
and passengers.
The suspects were arrested at Ugwuaji
forest,Enugu State by men of the state police
anti-kidnapping squad after abducting
several victims along Enugu/Port Harcourt
road.
The men of the underworld were also said
to operate a camp in Akwuke forest where
they keep some of their victims. They were
also accused of operating at Ndude
Seminary where they have allegedly
kidnapped over 10 Rev.Fathers, who were
taken to their Ugwaji forest camp.
The suspects in custody include Haruna
Ibrahim (27),Abubakar Abdullahi (37),
Sunday Selbon Melven (27),Onyedika Okafor
(25),Lawal Sule (28), Bello Mohammed (29)
,Bello Musa Shehu (25). They were said to
hail from Sokoto,Kebbi, Bauchi,Gombe,Ka
no,Plateau and Enugu State.
“Based on several petitions on the activities
of the suspects,I had to order the
commander anti-kidnapping squad, Supol
Alex Akinlalu who led his men to round up
the kidnappers on March 19,at the Ugwuaji
forest.One of the suspects, Haruna Ibrahim
told Saturday Sun: “We have two groups in
Enugu State.We only collect ransom from the
family of our victims, we don’t kill people.”
Speaking further on their exploits, the
suspect said “We have kidnapped a Rev
Father at 9th mile and took him to Ugwuaji
forest where he spent just two days after
we collected N250,000 from him.Also,we
kidnapped a pastor at Obiorre Udi old road
and collected a ransom of N150,000.
Another suspect,Bello Mohammed stated:
“Our Owu group took a bus passenger into
Ugwuaji forest and collected N200,000 from
him before we released him.”
The state police commissioner,CP Adamu
assured that the suspects will soon be
charged to court.
