According to the statement from the Saudi Monarch, each injured victim will
receive a sum of N26.5m, while families of dead victims would be receiving a
sum of N53.1m each.
Earlier, the Chairman of National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON),
Mallam Abdullahi Mukhtar had revealed that three Nigerians were injured with
two from Kaduna and one from Gombe, while Nigeria’s Consul-General to Saudi
Arabia Ahmed Umar revealed that six pilgrims from Nigeria died in the tragedy.
Thus, the three Nigerians injured would be getting a total of N79.5m and
families of the 6 dead victims would be receiving N318.6m.
Umar, the consul-general, however, said that the money would be given to
relations of the deceased and other victims of the crash.
He said that the Nigerian government was surprised with the kind gesture of
King Salman bin Abdulazeez , who donated the money to the families of the
affected pilgrims.
Umar assured Nigerians and families of the victims that the money would be
delivered to the right persons.
Below is how the Saudi Arabian government plans to pay victims of the tragedy.
1. The family of a deceased person will receive a sum of 53.1 million naira.
2. Each injured victim will receive a sum of 26.5 million naira.
3. The Hajj costs of the family of a deceased person will be covered next year.
4. The Hajj costs of each injured person will be covered next year.
5. All hosting costs of the deceased family will be covered in the coming Hajj.
6. Each permanently disabled victim will receive a sum of 53.1 million naira .
7. Affected individuals can also file law suits where they are not satisfied with
the compensation (this does not in any way affect the compensation they will
receive).
