Cristiano Ronaldo has made history on social media by becoming the
first athlete to reach 200 million followers across Facebook,
Instagram and Twitter.
Ronaldo has 109.7m followers on Facebook, 49.6m on Instagram
and 40.7m on Twitter after a "meteoritic rise" in popularity,
according to social media tracking database Hookit ,
The Real Madrid star now boasts more followers than prominent past
and present NBA stars Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James,
Kevin Durant and Steph Curry's combined 187m.

Ronaldo may have lost out to Lionel Messi to the Ballon d'Or in
January but the Portuguese easily trumps his long-time rival's
120.8m followers on social media, though the Argentine does not
have a Twitter account.
Hookit also detail that Ronaldo saw nearly one billion interactions on
social media last year and added 41.8m new followers, the majority
of whom came from Instagram.
If you want to feel even worse about your own paltry social media
following, the tracking database states Ronaldo averages 135,000
new followers a day.
