Google Photos for iOS updated with support for Live Photos and Split View

Google today updated its Photos app for iOS to version 1.8.0, bringing support for two important features to iPhone and iPad users.

First of all, Google Photos for iOS now supports viewing an backing up Live Photos. As you may know, Live Photos debuted on the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, basically bringing images to life by capturing a few seconds before and after you shoot a photo - thus, a Live Photo is a moving image (sound included).

The second important feature that the updated Google Photos app supports is Split View - this will let iPad owners use the application side by side with other apps, as long as their iPad runs iOS 9.0 or later (since Split View isn't included in older iterations of the OS).

The latest version of Google Photos for iOS also includes performance enhancements, improved menu navigation, reduced cached usage (for the times when you're low on space), and native support for iPad Pro.
