Fifa have rejected an appeal from Burkina Faso against Algeria’s victory in the 2014 World Cup playoff second leg, sealing the north Africans qualification to next year’s tournament.
In a new complaint, the Burkinabe football federation had accused the referee of the match Badara Diatta of Senegal to have taken wrong decisions in favour of Algeria, like “the disallowed goal from Charles Kabore and the additional time which was not exhausted”.
However, Fifa based its verdict on paragraph 6 of article 14 which stipulates that the decision of the referee is final and cannot be contested.
Algeria won the two-legged tie on a 3-3 aggregate having scored two goals in the away fixture.
