| On Tuesday, dozens of Cameroon citizens were killed and thousands vacated their villages located near the border with Nigeria after Fulani herdsmen assault.
According to Voice of America, the official broadcasting company of the U.S. FG, herdsmen in their hundreds were forced to leave Taraba and Benue states and unleashed their wrath when Cameroonian farmers demanded that they leave the area.
Eyewitnesses say the cattle breeders were heavily armed, set local schools and buildings on fire, destroyed crops. Their attack on the Efung, Afu, Gayama and Mayi villages was unexpected.
At least twenty people were reported dead by the authorities, but local residents insist the actual number might be higher, as victims were scattered on both sides of the Nigeria-Cameroon border. | |
