Akure—THE opposition All Progressive Congress, APC, in Ondo State has cleared 186 aspirants for different elective offices in the party ahead of its primaries.
Those cleared include ten senatorial aspirants from the three districts, 38 House of Representatives from the nine federal constituencies and 138 House of Assembly aspirants from the 26 state constituencies.
The chairman of the party Hon Isaacs Kekemeke said yesterday that 38 House of Representatives and 10 senatorial aspirants were screened by the national screening committee of the party.
Kekemeke expressed satisfaction over the screening exercise of the House of Representatives and senatorial aspirants of the party which was concluded last weekend.
He said: “The spirit of tolerance and transparency had been displayed at the exercise.
“We would play by the rule, the leadership of the party both at the national and state, at this level would play the game by the rule to ensure that the people would be the decider of who their representatives would be.
“Nobody would force any candidate on the party; the spirit of the party members is very high in winning the next general elections in the state.”
Kekemeke noted that “the development in the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in the state where parallel primaries were held by old and new PDP members showed that APC would cash in and defeat the party in the state.
The Chairman however assured those who lose out in the party primaries that” there would be opportunities for them when the party wins the next round of election in the country.
He appealed party members not to defect when they lose the primary but to display spirit of sportsmanship
