Ado Ekiti—The Joint Health Sector Unions, JOHESU, Ekiti State chapter has backed out of the current industrial action embarked upon by the national body of the union.
Speaking with the newsmen in Ado Ekiti yesterday by the state Chairman of the Union, Comrade Sola Ojo, said the union decided to back out of the strike action in honour of the state Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose and in consideration of the peculiarity of the health sector in the state.
His words: ‘’The leadership of JOHESU Ekiti State, comprising of the National Association of the Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, NANNM, Medical and Health Workers Union, MHWUN, and the National Union of Allied Professionals, NUAHP, wishes to inform all its members that after an appeal by the representatives Mr. Governor and considering the peculiarity of Ekiti State.
“The union have decided not to participate in the proposed strike earlier called by our union
“All members of Unions affiliated to JOHESU are hereby directed to be at their duty post”,
The Union made a u-turn after the intervention of the Governor,Mr Ayo Fayosec and the State’s Head of the Service, HOS, Dr. Gbenga Faseluka and the Chief of staff to the Governor, Chief Dipo
Anisulowo
At the meeting,Faseluka had commended the leadership of the state chapter of JOHESU for its decision, noting the important role played by the members of the union in ensuring a healthy society and urged them to continue to deliver valuable services to the people of the State.
It may be recalled that JOHESU had embarked on a nationwide industrial action on 12th November, 2014 to press home for the full implementation of agreement reached with the Union by the Federal Government.
