Out-Of-Favour Liverpool Striker ‘Agrees Terms’ With Premier League Side [Report] 529166576-1-1024x643

Having been hailed as a quality signing by Liverpool fans last season, with Brendan Rodgers looking to push for the title, Christian Benteke arrived at Anfield with lots of expectancy from the fans and his new manager.

12 months on it is clear the signing has been unsuccessful and reports have emerged in the Mirror that Benteke has agreed terms with Crystal Palace over a move to London, although both clubs have yet to agree a fee.

According to The Sun, Palace have jumped past West Ham United in the race for the Belgian striker. The Eagles are confident of agreeing a deal with Liverpool this week, with a fee close to the £32.5 million the Reds paid Aston Villa last summer thought to be enough to persuade Liverpool to part with the misfiring striker.

Palace have already added Andros Townsend, Steve Mandanda and James Tomkins to their squad and are eager to recruit another striker having sold Dwight Gayle to Newcastle United.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have Danny Ings back to full fitness having scored the winner in a friendly against Tranmere Rovers on Friday night.

Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge have been joined by Ings in manager Jurgen Klopp’s first team plans pushing Benteke even further down the pecking order.

The 25-year-old was part of the Belgian side at Euro 2016, which were eliminated by Wales, although, like his club situation, Benteke found playing time hard to come by.

The striker will be eager to show his qualities at Selhurst Park, just like he did at Aston Villa, which saw him earn a big money move to Liverpool after being chased by Europe’s top clubs.

The move has failed to work out and both parties will be eager to move on.
