The police in Ondo State have arrested a 24-year-old Success Okon for allegedly killing his friend, simply identified as Solomon during an argument over a video disc.
The accused who is said to be close friend of the deceased committed the crime at Agunla Onipetesi village in Ile Oluji, Oke Igbo Local Government Area of the state.
Apparently Success had borrowed the deceased a video disc so he went to meet him to collect the VCD back but the deceased could not produce it.
This led to an argument and in the heat of the fight, Success was said to have rushed to get a matchete which he used to he used to hack the deceased on the face and neck following which he bled profusely.
Some sympathisers rushed to the scene and took the victim to the hospital but he reportedly died before medical assistance could be rendered in the hospital.
The corpse of the deceased has been deposited at the state's general hospital mortuary in Ile‑Oluji for autopsy.
The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Wole Ogodo who said the deceased was already dead before the arrival of police to the scene of crime confirmed the arrest of the suspect saying the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department.
He said, "The suspect will soon be charged to court as soon as the police conclude investigations."
